Haven’t had much time to write, but we do have…..
THE FRUIT OF THE WEEK !!!!!
Soursop
Soursop look rather comical from the outside…I’d describe it as a bulbous pear with a bad case of prickles. Inside you find a rather soft, wet pulp that is lemon sour with a sweetness..sort of like pineapple but with more punch. Watch out for the indigestible black seeds hidden throughout. We liked it but it was too sour to make a feast of it…made you pucker up good!!!!
Mystery Fruit
Strange fruit with identifying sticker…I think it is called a Stemilt. Found it at our local grocery store. Red exterior, crunchy and fresh on the inside….reminded me of those small apples sold in Washington state…the ones kept in those controlled-atmosphere warehouses for months…but those are mushy and tasteless…this one was DELICIOUS!!!!! Please let us know if you happen to know what this incredible fruit is called!!!
Going to Bangkok in two weeks!!! Heidi is hoping to enter one of those Thai kick-box tournaments and is looking for jewelry. I’m hoping to have a suit made (in three days!!!) We’re staying at this awesome hotel…the Shangri-la….check it out here: Shangri-la Bangkok

Thai kick boxing huh? Does she have a cool fight name yet? How about the “Wenatchee Whirlwind”……maybe “The Coufluence Crusher” or “Mission Ridge Marauder”?
Good thing you’re taking your camera because we all want pictures of the Heidi with her headgear on and mouth guard in raising the championship belt over her head.
Heidi is rather sweet on Wenatchee Whirlwind….she’s known for her roundhouse to the head!!!

That red one might be an apple. Did you consider that it could be the same stemilt that is in Wenatchee?
I don’t think so…way too crisp and flavorful!!!!
In fact, those “Washington USA” sticky labels are sold in sheets all over the world and slapped onto locally grown apples.
Hmmmmm, so you think the Calvin Klein purse my wife bought for $20.00 might not be original? 🙂

Awe…the look of a Washington apple. Sure makes you feel at home I bet. I enjoy your vivid descriptions of all the unique looking fruits.

Hi Angie,
We can hardly wait to land in Bangkok…we’ll be attending a conference so we’ll only have the evenings but are hoping to fill each evening with wanderings and exploring. If you had told me two or three years ago that we would be visiting Bangkok and Singapore I would have laughed and said, “Only in my dreams!”. Can only guess where we’ll be next year.
Will you ever be able to live like the common folks again? I loved the pictures of the hotel in Bangkok. My husband was there for several years during the late sixties. I don’t think his accommodations were quite like that! Love living vicariously through your posts. Miss you!
Rest assured, Heidi and I have not, nor ever will, forget our roots or our friends…..definitely treasures of ours. We will enjoy the ride while it lasts but before long we will be home, just two everyday folk.
Hope you’re still planning on visiting….we could use a bout of home right about now.

Soursop is only sour when it is not completely ripe. Here in Mexico we call it “guanábana”. It is commonly used in juice smoothies, but I enjoy eating it right out of the hull.
I like the Mexican name better. I actually enjoyed the taste…just too powerful to eat much of it. I’ve seen it sold as shakes…same with durian. We’ve really enjoyed trying all the different fruits and foods. So good to hear from you, Karl.
